Impressive Remedies From Common Health Aides

You probably already know exactly what each item in your medicine cabinet should be used to cure. You know that if you are having heartburn, you should have an antacid. You know that when you have an allergy flare up you need to take an antihistamine. You know to take ibuprofen or Tylenol or a similar pain killer when you are having a headache. But did you know that the things in your medicine cabinet can be used to cure all sorts of other problems also? Try some of these off-the-wall remedies for everyday ailments.

You probably already know that an antacid like Alka-Seltzer (and other antacids) can genuinely help you feel better when you have tummy troubles or heartburn. Are you aware, though, that Alka Seltzer and other antacids can also be used to soothe the stinging feelings that come with bug bites? This is because nearly all antacids like Alka Seltzer contain aspirin which helps reduce the pain and stinging you feel when you are bitten. Make a paste out of a smashed up tablet of antacid, a little bit of oatmeal and a little bit of water. Apply it over the bitten area and you should feel better pretty much immediately. This ordinarily works better than the products that are created for the same purpose, like calamine lotion.

You already know that mouthwash can help you fight bad breath or halitosis but did you know that it can fight athlete's foot too? Mouthwashes with alcohol in them are excellent for helping your feet and toes stay clean and healthy. After each shower, soak a cotton ball with an alcohol based mouthwash and run it between your toes and over the soles of your feet. The alcohol in the mouthwash will kill any fungal infections that might be trying to take hold.

Ordinary baking soda has been used for years to clean your teeth. In addition, baking soda can be used to make the teeth white and to scrub your mouth. However, did you know that baking soda is a great treatment for skin conditions like sunburns also? Baking soda's properties have been knowne to have a neutralizing effect on the pH balance of the skin. To get as much relief as possible, pour a full cup of baking soda into your bath water--under the running tap of water--wait until it has entirely dissolved and then soak in the water for approximately thirty minutes.

You are already aware that aloe vera is great for treating skin burns. It can soothe the skin and help alleviate the pain of most skin burns from sunburns to second-degree burns. However, did you know that you can use aloe vera to cure canker sores also? The same properties in aloe vera that help skin burns can help get rid of your canker sores. Studies have found that individuals who treat canker sores with aloe vera heal as much as 50% more quickly than individuals who use conventional cures.

These are just a couple of the unconventional ways that you can employ conventional illness and injury remedies. Rather than paying for the latest OTC treatments for your ailment, why not try something you have on hand? You have all kinds of remedies in your medicine cabinet that do more than what they are marketed for, why not get the most for your money?
